Brazon Bend National Park

On 11/1/2011, we had a field trip with a group of homeschooling families to Brazos Bend National Park. It is about 1/2 hour road trip from our house. We being to this park quite a few times, just tat this time we had a tour guide guiding us along the trail explaining all the things around the park.
First, we walked around the 40 acre lake for about 1 miles. Along the trail, the tour guide is showing us all different kinds of trees and plants.

The volunteer is explaining why it is important to have trees and tell us this tree fall during hurricane and now become a new habitat for some animals.

4 stories tall observatory tower where the kids can view three different ecosystem---marshland, swamp and wetlands.

Ethan took this picture at the top of the tower.

Alligator backbone

Compare and contrast between alligator and crododile.
Hummingbird nest and egg.
The boys are touching the 2 months old alligator.
They are having lots of fun inside the nature center.

The wetlands is covered by green duckweed. The dried up lotus can be seen all over the big pond.

Can you see the big alligator? There are many alligator in this park, but most time just laying lazily basking under the sun.

Waiting for a speaker ( an astronomer indeed) to give a talk about telescope.

The giant telescope. Too bad it is under repair, we cannot get chance to look at it.
